Kate Freund springs from the LA hippie hills of Topanga Canyon. Growing up amongst out-of-work actors, disfunctional directors, and un-convicted serial killers turned producers — she should have known better than to pursue a career in entertainment, but browbeating practicality was never a strong suit.
Her dream has always been to make dark, surreal comedies and hyper-violent action films.
After graduating from USC, and producing segments for the TV series Rough Cut LA, she started contributing to Channel 101's monthly competitive showcase where she directed, wrote and starred in 25 comedy shorts that you should totally check out. She has appeared on The Aquabats Super Show, The Sarah Silverman Program, Childrens's Hospital, Community, Love That Girl and the made for TV movie, Who Killed Chandra Levy? She's also acted in several sketches for The Soup, Attack of The Show, Upload with Shaquille O'Neal, Funny or Die, Crypt TV, Sketch Melt and Awesomeness.
Last year, she performed in her first feature, On The Rocks and won Best Music Video for Monster at the LA Femme Festival. Currently Kate can be seen performing monthly at the Pack Theater with the sketch group, Teenage Trouble and playing the banjo in the all-girl country band: The Git Back Gang.
